Black Hawk Roof Co., Inc., 619 E 19th Street, Cedar Falls, IA 50613 is seeking 20 temporary, full-time roofers to work at 1400 Grissell Pl, Iowa City, IA 52245 and in the counties of Benton, Linn, Jones, Dubuque, Poweshiek, Iowa, Johnson, Cedar, Clinton, Scott, Muscatine, Keokuk, Washington, Louisa, Wapello, Jefferson, Henry, and Des Moines, from 04/01/2024 to 12/31/2024 for $25.76/hour.

Applicants may be offered higher than the advertised wage rate due to experience or merit. Duties include applying low slope roofing systems and pitched shingle roof; tearing off roof systems; installing insulation, membrane roofs and roof trims, shingle roofs, sheet metal trims and above grade building waterproofing; moving and arranging materials; building siding tear off and installation.

  • Must be able to lift over 65 lbs and climb ladders.
  • No prior education or experience required.
  • On-the-job training will be provided to the worker.
  • Daily transportation to and from the worksite will be provided.

Approximately 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 6am-5pm (varies day to day and by weather) with some weekend work. Overtime is available but not guaranteed. Overtime rate is $38.64.

  • The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due and pay weekly by check.

  • The employer will make all deductions from the worker’s paycheck as required by law. Any advances will be deducted with the consent of the employee.

  • The employer will provide housing as an option to the employees.

Employees who elect to live in the housing will have an additional $150.00 deducted per weekly paycheck for rent and utilities.

  • The worker will be reimbursed for transportation and subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad, to the pace of employment, in the first workweek at a rate of a minimum of $15.46 per day to a maximum of $59.00 per day with documentation of actual expenses.
  • The employer will provide or pay for the worker’s cost of return transportation and daily subsistence from the place of employment to the place from which the worker, disregarding intervening employment, departed to work for the employer, if the worker completes the certified period of employment or is dismissed before 12/31/2024.

  • The employer will reimburse the worker in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker (but need not include passport expenses or other charges primarily for the benefit of the worker).

  • The employer will provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned.
